Suddenly Seymour may be facing the First Avenger.
The Hollywood Reporter broke the news yesterday that Chris Evans (Knives Out) is looking to take on the role of Dentist (and all around asshole) Orin Scrivello in the upcoming adaptation of Little Shop of Horrors. Orin was previously portrayed by Steve Martin in the 1986 film directed by Frank Oz. The musical horror comedy is being directed by Greg Berlanti who most recently directed Love, Simon and produces almost every Superhero show on television. Billy Porter (Pose) is currently attached to play the role of the human eating plant, Audrey 2, with Taron Egerton in talks for the lead role of Seymour, and Scarlett Johansson in talks for the role of Audrey.
The film is currently in pre-production and we don’t have a firm release date as of yet, but it’s likely Warner Brothers will be looking at making this a major Holiday release. Hopefully the current rumored cast comes together as Egerton has always been an amazing actor and proved he has the singing down thanks to last year’s Rocketman. It would also be a thrill to see Evans and Johansson on screen together after over a decade in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Evans will next be seen in the Apple+ series Defending Jacob, which he stars and helped produce. That series is set to release in April. For more on Chris Evans, and the forthcoming Little Shop of Horrors film, be sure to keep following us as we keep track of the progress of the film.
