James Gunn To Direct Guardians of the Galaxy 3 (Updated)

All is right in the MCU!

Marvel fans were in for a shock last summer when Disney head Alan Horn fired Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn. Horn fired Gunn for some old offensive tweets which Gunn had already previously apologized for in the past. All of which were brought into the spotlight by some far-right radicals who disapproved of Gunn’s more recent statements that we should be good people… After many petitions by fans, stars and more, Deadline is reporting that Marvel has officially rehired James Gunn to direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Marvel had already agreed that they would use Gunn’s script for the film, something that many of the films stars demanded. But having him fully on board is going to be a great step towards bringing this trilogy to a close. Hopefully the turmoil of the past year won’t bring down the atmosphere and cause problems on set or in production, and Gunn can be free to do as he please. Gunn has shown that he knows these characters well, and has even helped with their parts in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. He’s also credited as a Producer on both of those films.

How soon we get to see James Gunn’s next installment in the Guardians franchise is unclear, as he is currently working on a new Suicide Squad film for DC. But for now we can all rejoice, and hope that this film comes together soon. Also maybe moving forward, Disney should keep in mind that the leader of their entire entire MCU is someone who didn’t always make the best choices in the past

UPDATE: James Gunn tweeted a response to the news which you can read below. No matter what we’re happy he’s back.
