Tonight is the 91st Annual Academy Awards! And all day today we’ll be bringing you a rundown of each category as well as reviews of the nominated films. Next up, Best Animated Feature.
Best Animated Feature
This category is one that is fairly new, but was demanded for years. The Best Animated Feature category consists of the best film that is made in some animated form. It can be a hand drawn animated film, a computer animated film, or a stop-motion film. This year the nominees are Incredibles 2, Isle of Dogs, Mirai, Ralph Breaks the Internet, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
There’s very few certainties this year. But this category is pretty much a lock. There’s a slight chance that Incredibles 2, may end up taking this based on the Academy’s love for Pixar. But, in the end it’s hard to believe the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse wouldn’t win here. That film is one of the best films of the year period. Not just animated, but in any form at all. You could argue that the Academy doesn’t like Superhero films, but if it’s not Spider-Man, Incredibles is getting this, so either way there’s tights and “no-capes!” involved.
So as of now our final say is:
Best Animated Feature: Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
